Gleaned from Native American lore, LongRiver is a term
once used to describe what we now call the Mississippi River.
Flowing from Minnesota to the City of New Orleans, the
long river passes through open country, forests, small towns
and big cities on its way to the Gulf of Mexico. Along the
way, it touches many people and many cultures... representing
commerce, hard work, recreation, history and folklore.
The history of the long river is certainly one of music. When
you look at American's indigenous music, it all began on
the banks of the longriver. Blues, in the north Mississippi
delta, Rock 'n roll, upriver in Memphis, and Jazz in New
Orleans. The power of the longriver is vast in its ability
to touch people's spirit, stir their imagination, play host
to festivals and celebrations.
Founded by David Simmons on the banks of the Mississippi River in Memphis,
this is the story of LongRiver Entertainment Group...commerce,
diversity, imagination, spirit, hard work, and celebration.
Through music, art, film and a host of other entertainment
vehicles ranging from marketing and design to restaurants and
casinos. LongRiver represents the cumulated business interests
of the company's president, David Simmons.
